Question
My 10 year old son has the adoptive trifecta of diagnoses: "on the autism spectrum", oppositional defiant disorder, and ADHD. Sometimes he has violent fits - although now they're down to 1 or 2 per month instead of 2-3 per week. After a fit (hitting, kicking adult family members), how can I effect a consequence such as "kicking out of the garden"? A) This child does not seem to remember the fit after a few hours; will this change the recommended consequence? B) His other parent and I are divorced and the other parent will not cooperate with the consequences; will this prevent the child from learning from it?
