Question
Greetings! Our usually cheerful and happy 4yo daughter does not seem to react normally to punishment. At first she gets upset and cries, but very shortly into a time out or being sent to her room she starts laughing and talking as if nothing happened. We've tried spanking, which does seem to work a bit better, but we'd rather not do that if we could avoid it. As we live in Hong Kong we only have about 600 sq feet, so removing all the toys from her room is a bit of a challenge. She doesn't seem to understand a star chart yet either. She is making my wife really upset and frazzled. Is it normal for her to not fully comprehend punishment? Can you give us tips on our responses so we don't get worn out? Many thanks!
