Question
Our almost 5 year old daughter has been hitting, scratching, kicking us and her 9 yr old twin siblings ruthlessly all the while screaming at the top of her lungs. It occurs when she is frustrated and/or disappointed and it is her automatic go to place - there is no build up and a lot of times comes completely out of nowhere. She has not done this for teachers or at friends houses nor with babysitters. We do not give into her EVER. We have tried not reacting but it seems it is getting worse. Now we are upset, anxious and concerned and it is getting very difficult to control our own emotions due to the frequency. How do we react? How do we teach our 9 yr olds to react? How do we make it stop? we have tried exclusion, loss of privileges, time outs, spankings, positive reinforcements.
