Question
I became a stepmom ten years ago when my stepdaughter was 2 years old. We have 50/50 custody so her visitation schedule is week on/week off. When she is at our house, I am the mom, my husband the dad. She calls me mom even though she knows I am not her biological mom. We have an amazing relationship however last weekend she told my husband that all of the sudden she felt weird calling me mom. How do I respond? What should I have her call me if not mom? I am a firm believer that children shouldn't call adults by their first name even though our current culture finds it alright for kids to call parents and adults by their first name.
