End the Games

Question

First, to start, my 14-year-old son has no behavior issues and is a good kid, good student and a contributing member to our family life. We have a rule about video game usage (I believe video games are dangerous to young boys and would like to see them eradicated from this earth), which is zero games on school nights. Last night I found him playing video games at 11pm, which broke his bedtime and our video game rule. This is the second time in 2 months that he has broken the rule. Last time, we took away his computer for 2 weeks. I believe, after researching video games that they are engineered to be addictive, and so we are taking away the addictive substance just to hand it back to him and expect him to manage something addictive. It seems crazy. I would appreciate your advice and counsel on this subject. Thank you.
