28 month year-old son uses nasty tone and says “don’t say that to me!“ Or “don’t talk to me like that!“ ‘No!!’. I know this is part of being a toddler but if I engage back and let him know it is not OK to speak to his father or I like that, he just gets more angry, upset and nasty. My question is, is this a type of behavior that I ignore and hope it goes away when he doesn’t get a reaction out of us? Or the second he starts in with a tone or nasty words does he immediately need to go to time out?
