Question
Hi,
We have five home schooled children 8yo,7yo,5yo,4yo,1yo. The eldest is popular with all our children and the 7yo boy vies for her attention and playtime against the 5yo girl . The question I have relates to this and similar scenarios. Eldest declares she is going off with 5yo alone to play cubbies and 7yo is not welcome because he will (be rough, take up too much room, etc). He starts to cry. So are the girls entitled to have time alone away from boys and vice versa or should it be all inclusive all the time. The girls share a room. The boys share but the little boys are not old enough to be a good substitute to the 7yo for the effervescent eldest. Don't say "do not get involved" because she will grow up excluding others, won't she?
