Shared Custody Problems

Question

Dear John,
My husband and I have 2 boys, ages 3 and 7, and 2 girls from his 1st marriage, ages 12 and 14. The girls are generally very pleasant and cooperative at our house and we have no major problems with them. We have 50% custody of the girls. There are so many times the girls ask for something, (a new outfit, earrings, purse, gadget, etc.) and we tell them either 1-No or 2-they have to buy it with their own money (which they do have.) The girls choose to not spend their own money. Then they go to their mom's house for the week. When they come back, their mom has bought them the item! She never tells them no! What should we do?
