Question
My 9 year old son is in 4th grade. He has always been good with others but a strong-willed challenger at home. My husband and I always felt that that meant we were doing our job, with good reports from school and extracurricular and other parents and us being his “outlet” and safe space at home. Within the last couple of months, however, his goofing off and acting out has shown up at soccer practice and in games and also at school. We thought soccer was just a comfort thing because dad is the coach but now we’ve heard from his new teacher that he’s being disruptive. He’s a smart kid and knows better. How to handle this?
