Many discipline problems require a coach

Question

As I'm sure you can see, we have submitted many questions over the years. Some things have improved. We have been more consistent with offering consequences and following through. However, we are finding parenting often feels more difficult with our boys at ages 4, 7 and 9 than it did several years ago.
We are dealing with a lot of misbehavior, disrespect, and fighting among the boys. I would like them to be doing more chores around the house, but we find we are spending energy and time dealing with behavior which leaves little time for chores.
We tried the ticket system a few years ago and we were not successful. It felt like they were frequently losing tickets, and that even the consequences of losing tickets didn't discourage bad behavior. I had a hard time keeping up with who lost a ticket, especially when we were away from the tickets.
We are happy to revisit, but we feel at a loss as where to start. Our home is not the calm, happy home we want. Where do we start?
