Question
Our 8-year-old son is headed back to school tomorrow, and we just got word that one of his favorite elementary teachers has been arrested for third-degree sexual abuse. We believe in the “Tell him what he needs to know when he needs to know it” philosophy, but this is our first experience handling an issue like this. He is already anxious about starting school, so we aren’t planning on telling him anything until he brings it up, but we know he’ll probably have heard about the circumstances surrounding this teacher’s absence. What’s our strategy here? Thanks in advance.
