Question
Hello. MY 8 yo will not go to sleep at a reasonable hour. She waits in her room until my husband and I go bed, which can be after 10:00 p.m. and continues to stay awake. She says she makes up stories in her mind to keep herself entertained. She is very creative. The problem, of course, is getting her up for school each morning. She is exhausted, but the routine starts all over again. She has the energy to stay up all night again.
I suffered with the same problem as a child, so I am concerned about ruminating, which I did and general fatigue. I have been told by a psychologist that she is very anxious. Same when when I was a child. What can I do to help her turn her mind 'off' to go to sleep? Thank you.
