Question
What should we do about chores that are not completed satisfactorily by a capable teen? It's not intentional but more carelessness. We've tried just calling her back each time to wash the pot left on the stove or wipe the counters covered with crumbs that are part of their kitchen duties, but her thoroughness has not improved. Last night, for example, I could see from my office that she had just loaded three items she was specifically told needed to be hand washed so I gently reminded her, which, of course, ticked her off to be further inconvenienced. This morning we found the counters still covered with crumbs and other items left out. First question: Should I not have said anything last night? And second, how to handle the bigger problem?
