Question
I am overwhelmed by the amount of toys in my house! I dread the Christmas season because it seems that it is inevitable that we will be drowning in toys.
My husband and I only buy a toy or two for our two boys on birthdays and Christmas. However, the grandparents, aunts and uncles shower them with the latest and greatest of toys. I have tried setting a quantity limit per person, monetary amount per person and submitting a suggested list to all gift givers involved. The response I have gotten is "I am the so and so, I will do whatever I want."
When the boys were younger I would intercept, hide and donate excessive toys but that doesn't work any more.
Any suggestions on how to handle the avalanche? My seven year old received 27 gifts last Christmas from one side of the family. Help!
