10 year old Locked in Homework Battle

Question

I am locked in a battle of wills with my 10-year-old! He has been having problems with "forgetting" his homework. He is choosing to leave his work at school and miss morning recess rather than do it at home. When we started feeding, bathing and sending him to bed immediately after school, he showed no response or improvement. When we talked to him about it, he informed us that he "would rather do anything other than homework." I briefly tried racing home from work and then taking him back to school to get his homework but the situation did not improve. It is becoming a huge burden on our household to "punish" Isaiah every night. He has no privileges at all at this time. No television, no playing outside, no favorite foods, no toys in his room. I get home every day and ask him about his homework. He replies "I don't have any," or "I didn't bring it home," or "I forgot it again." Then he takes a shower, eats a peanut-butter sandwich (at 4:45PM!!) and goes to bed. The last five weeks and weekends have been nightmares! Please help us; I would like to be able to leave the house one of these days. Also, I am not sure what to do when school is dismissed. I don't want to be a warden all summer.
