Teen's Depression

Question

My 13 year-old son's psychiatrist has recommended that he live at a long-term Christian living facility for troubled teens because he is suffering from depression (did not go to school for a few months) and started cutting himself a few months ago. However, this facility, which treats mild emotional/behavioral problems, which sounds fantastic, (I have researched it) said they would initially take him but now is hesitant because of his self harm actions. I'm at my wit's end. He has to go somewhere, and the only other place we can think of is a long-term adolescent psychiatric facility. Do you have any advice or thoughts? Thanks.
