Question
I'm a widow with a 14 year old son who admitted trying a puff of a cigar/inhaling tobacco smoke from a hooka at a summer sleepover at a trusted family's home. The (mostly older) teens snuck out in the yard to do it. He texted me in the middle of the night to tell me, asked for forgiveness/said he felt sad/nervous. He gets excellent grades, is respectful/dependable. My plan: endorse his honesty, disallow any more sleepovers at this family's home, and make it clear that his beloved tennis/iPod goes if future infractions. What if he doesn't tell the next time to avoid penalty? Want to nip in the bud/stop escalation to drugs.
