Question
A oppositional/defiant great grandchild is living with me temporarily with his mom and his 4 year old sister, who is a total delight. I usually let the mother deal with her son, even though I did not agree with her parenting style. I have caught her son more than once, mistreating my cat. We really got into it. Her way of dealing with this is to talk him to death, but no consequences. I told her when it comes to my belongs and things, I will deal with him. I am not quite sure how to deal with this effectively. I have never encountered this kind of behavior. My children and grandchildren were parented old school. This coddling, and trying to be this best friend, along with no consequences is ridiculous.
