Question
Our daughter is in Kindergarten. Her school wants her assessed for support services. She is having behavior issues in class. (Which we are trying to have her held accountable for, but the school says she’s not acting out to be naughty. As her teacher said, “she’s working through her emotions”). Academically she’s advanced. She’s two to three years behind on gross motor skills. We are thinking of homeschooling her next year and denying the assessment they want to do on her. We think she needs stricter guidelines than the school is providing, and more playtime to develop her gross motor skills. We think homeschooling would better provide this. Would we be doing our daughter a disservice by denying the assessment?
