Question
Our 11 year old son has had a fear of toxic substances. This first started when another boy encountered a leaking battery in a summer camp. Someone mentioned that you would die if you ate battery acid because it was toxic. This didn't go over well with him. We worked with him on it but it took him awhile before we thought this issue had cleared.
Fast forward a few years to science class where they are doing an experiment involving borax. The science teacher announces that borax is a toxic substance and they needed to wash their hands after doing the experiment. This didn't go over well with him. I get a call from school that he was upset and may need to come home with the plan to let him know ahead of time so there are no surprises. Any ideas? Thank you.
