Question
My 18 month old son currently attends a mothers' morning out program at our church a couple of mornings a week which I helped set up. It is a very casual atmosphere where the children just really play and have a good time. They are looking to expand the program to more of a "preschool" environment. I have constantly pushed for a more creative, relaxed approach to this "preschool" believing that when children are ready to learn, for example, their ABCs they will learn on their own. Today our preacher handed me a proposal for a Montessori program that wishes to come to our church. I would like to know what your thoughts are concerning the Montessori program? Also, what do you think I should be looking for in any program for my toddler? I really appreciate your thoughts in this matter.
