At what age can a child be expected to handle all of her own school stuff? Our oldest starts 1st grade this fall. Can I wake her up (once!) in the morning with plenty of time to spare, and from there expect her to get up, dressed, fed, and out the door on time? After school can I expect her to unpack her book bag and lunch box, do her homework, and give me any papers sent home to parents, all without any prompting? Also can I have her make her own school lunches?
