Question
My husband and I have a 10-year-old son who is normal in every way except that he has tantrums every time he is asked to do something he doesn't want to do. He is typically compliant, polite, works hard in school and is mentally and physically healthy. When he is asked to do something he doesn't want to do or told he will need to do the task in the near future (e.g., practice piano, brush his teeth, sweep the floor, etc.), he whines, cries, and hollers. If he is punished for this behavior, he apologizes, but this too is through tears and wailing. What do you suggest?
