7 year old : homeschooling lazy kid

Question

I am homeschooling my very bright, very active 7 year old boy. He loves reading and discussing what we've read. He HATES any kind of written work, often reverses letters, makes careless mistakes, and proposes to write the first part of the assignment if I'll write the rest. I don't want to micromanage or force him into a mold he wasn't created to fill, but I do want him to learn diligence and some attention to detail. Should I limit the volume of written work? Should I keep sending him back to correct his written work until he gets it right? Or just mark it wrong and move on? Any other guidelines for keeping myself from getting too enmeshed in his work?
