Inability to Follow-Through

Question

Unfortunately, I see a great deal of my personal character flaws in my daughter and would like help in how to help her. I am a smart, well read middle aged woman who should have finished college and pursed a career. Instead, I quit college after one year, went to secretarial school and cannot move beyond clerical positions due to education requirements. I never set specific goals and worked toward them and am still not good at following through on projects. I see so much of this in my daughter. She is only nine, but repeatedly starts a books but doesn't finish it, starts homework, but wants to quit when it requires sustained effort, won't practice piano but a few minutes then moves on, etc. I want to put her on the right path, but how do that when I share her faults?
