Hi, John. I've read and implemented your plan for ending the homework hassle and I've been amazed at what my 1st grader is able figure out on his own--and how proud he is of himself. Two things, though. He is still learning to read, so is it ok to read the instructions to him before leaving him on his own? Also, how do I respond when he is frustrated and starts all of the "I can't read", "I'll never learn" episodes? Thanks for all of your help and practical advice. I love it!
