re school effort

Question

First, her school says it is developmentally based and uses Elkinds Hurried Child as part of it's philosophy. Kindergarten is play based, and kids aren't expected learn to read until first grade. It emphasizes arts and social responsibility. It allows kids to progress at their own rate without pushing or testing (not so much as a spelling test) other than assessement.
Second, I never considered boredom, I thought I was doing something good by providing a low pressure academic environment-but now I feel I am raising an underachiever.
Do you have any advice for figuring it out and for addressing this with the school? Also, do you find any value in intelligence testing to find her strengths and weaknesses?
Thanks
