Prussian method

Question

John from out in the midwest here. A book everyone concerned with public education needs to read YESTERDAY is "The Underground History of American Education" by John Taylor Gatto. Mr. Gatto is a past teacher of the year in New York. He does a great job in the book explaining how using the Prussian method has turned us from a country that used to have a 98% literacy rate (pre WWI) into a country that was only at 78% literacy by WWII....and it's only gotten worse since then. Mr. Gatto doesn't dig into the Marxism of John Dewey and several of his fellow travellers as I would have liked him to, but the book was an eye-opener for one who works in the belly of the beast. Hope this is helpful.
