Hello John -
My five-year-old girl likes her hair long. That's fine with me, as long as she lets me brush it, braid it, put it in ponytails and the like. She refuses to let me do her hair. She wants to brush her hair by herself. I let her, but then I want to "finish it", because she still has knots. Whenever I want to style it, she fights me. She lets her auntie and her grandmother do her hair when she visits them. I am ready to take her to the salon and have them give her a nice, cute bob hair cut that she can take care of herself and thereby, remove me from the whole hair scene. I've told her this a few times and she cries and says she wants long hair. My fear is I'll traumatize her in some way if I get her hair cut in a short style. But, I am so mad and frustrated I really want to do it. I don't want to do it out of spite, I want to "demonstrate my power". Am I wrong? Am I right? Help!
