A Booklover's Guide to Agony

Question

I just received a call from our Head of School stating our 8 year old son threatened another child at school. This is completely out of character for him and when asked about he said"he let his anger get out of control". A little background the classmate told on him for working on a social studies project when he was supposed to be working on a math assignment. The words he said to the classmate were "if you don't shut your mouth there will be blood involved". Even typing this makes me sad and uncomfortable given that our child has historically been known to be a "friend to all" and "kind". Our child is not allowed to play video games nor does he have screen time on a regular basis. We plan to use the "Garden of Eden" approach. My main question is do we also take books out of his room during this punishment time? Our son LOVES to read--it is his favorite hobby. I truly am at a loss and feel like a failure as a parent.
