I just purchased and listened to The 7 Biggest Mistakes Parents Make. Our problem is that we were more "buddy buddy" with our older kids and did make all the mistakes you mentioned. Now those children are grown and too old change (out of school age now). But (We have 9 children) we still have 3 young boys - ages 8,12 and 15. We can follow your advice, but my 15 year old compares with what we have allowed the older children to do - "The girls never get in trouble for..." this or that; "It's just me" - and so on, What do we do in this situation?
