Question
Our children are in the ages of 5-10. Their grandmother (my mother-in-law) is employed by the school system, and acts like an expert in children’s health and mental health, although with no formal training or degrees. We live far away, but whenever we go around her, she will diagnose our children with one malady or another. I’m tired of it, so I limit my exposure to her altogether. My husband gets mad at her when she does it. Her diagnosing continues though, and will even happen behind our backs. I want our children to have relationships with all their grandparents, but will her constant diagnosis start messing with their minds?
