Time to Turn the Tables on 4-Year-Old

Question

My husband and I own and operate a private preschool. Our son is 4 1/2 years old is currently has been enrolled in our school since September 2021.

Over the course of his enrollment, our son has by no means been a "model student". He is an intelligent little boy, but does not care to learn concrete material such as letters and numbers. He has continually had difficulty listening to teacher's directions and playing with his peers. His behaviors include, but are not limited to, calling out (without raising his hand), hitting (seldom), putting his face in other's faces, arguing with children and adults and playing roughly with toys. It is very clear he is not our staff's favorite child. The most severe behavior we have seen from him is arguing with the teachers in his class, including my husband and myself. When we provide a direction, he will argue with the adult and claim "we are not listening to him".

How should my husband and I handle our son when he argues with adults?
