Negotiating consequences.

Question

I need some advice! First let me acknowledge I have not had any experience with “boys” other than cousins in my life. Boy Mom is a new experience, My child, I believe has an impulse control issue….sometimes when he does “stuff”. and it is not necessarily good choices….he says he just wanted to see what would happen. (Not from me, but the results of his actions.

When I got around to putting the clothes into the dryer, I returned to the kitchen. Maybe 10 minutes afterwards, he comes into the kitchen and says, “Grandma, I have something to tell you, and if I tell you the truth, I will not get a spanking right?” I said, maybe punishment but not a spanking. He continued, “those jeans you put in the dryer, your jeans, I wrote on them with permanent marker.….. moving forward, how do I deal with these occurrences? He is fully versed in consequences of our actions…. He has had incidents of other not wise choices, but this is something I feel I need to nip in the bud.
