DIVORCED DAD WANTS TO TAKE 9 YO ON HOLIDAY, WON'T TELL MOM WHERE

Question

I’m the worst mum in the world and hated because my 9-year-old son isn’t allowed to go on holiday out of the country with his dad and new girlfriend for a family holiday. I told my son's dad no because he refused to tell me where and provide details in case of an emergency and because of passport issues. In addition, his dad refuses to provide his address which is already a concern in case of an emergency. If his dad had his passport, I would not get it back. When my son was younger his dad stole his birth certificate and ran away with him to the other side of the country, and it caused all kinds of legal complications just in the same country. I don’t want to think of what other complications could arise with my son out of the country. I know we do have to just trust they are safe with the other parent, but I feel like this isn’t a risk I want to take. Speaking to dad is like speaking to my 9-year-old. How much do I disclose to my son about why he can’t go?
