Question
Thank you for your help RE my previous post on homeschooling. I always find this forum so empowering.
How do I get my son into sports? He lacks confidence and avoids it. There is a lovely Christian homeschool sports group run by my church that is reasonably priced, includes prayer and positive male influences. However, my son doesn’t want to go. He says silly things like, "I don’t want to go because it was my ball, but the coach said it wasn’t." When I mention the sports club, he explodes. He cries and shouts, says, "If you loved me, you wouldn’t make me go!" (which we know isn’t true, and a tactic kids like to pull). I think I read somewhere on here a similar situation in which the coach said to have the child attend, and if they do not play properly, they sit out and watch. I did apply this thinking to our situation, however, how do I deal with the resistance before we even get there? I don’t know how to respond to him. Thank you.
