Question
Two of my daughters, one jr. high the other a freshman declared they want to be addressed as they. This has taken me by surprise as I am close to my children. We monitor what they watch or read or what they participate in. Obviously, something has influenced them. I am not sure how to respond. I need to make sure I get this right. Their mother (and yes, we are married) wants me to be more accepting and supportive of their decision. Whatever I say needs to be balanced between my love for the children and their mother and the values I have and thought I was teaching my children. We are Christians. The children are growing up with an accessibility to God and his word. I am desperate. I do not want to be desperate. I also do not want to show any emotion that will cause a problem between me or any members of my family.
