Parental Leadership is Critical

Question

Good afternoon,
My 5, almost 6, year old son is struggling, in school and at home, with impulse control and tantrums. Today, he got in trouble at school for spitting on the carpet and another student. Last night, he threw a tantrum because I turned off the TV. The tantrum included hitting me, biting me, and throwing a cup of water across the room. I put him in his room, though I was much more reactive than I should've been. He did not stay in his room. I don't mind holding the door shut while he is in his room, but what should I do when I have put his younger siblings (age 3 and almost age 2) to bed? His tantrum screaming will keep them awake and often results in his siblings screaming as well.
Thanks.
