Avoiding a checkmate requires change.

Question

We have transferred our 14-year-old son (9th grade) from his high school of 1500 students to a charter school which has under 300 students. His grades were declining rapidly, we noticed he found interest in graffiti and is unmotivated. We see how he uses his allowance money and don't think he's doing drugs. He's never seen a mental health professional and is not under any medication.
He's refusing to go to school and don't know what to do. He wants to go back to high school with all his friends but going back is not an option. Thanks in advance for your help,
