Question
Our older two boys, 5 and 7, go crazy at bedtime. They are silly, which is fine, but in being silly they make messes and are often disrespectful. After going to bed, we can hear them laughing and playing. They also come downstairs multiple times saying they are scared or can’t sleep or need to tell us something. We send them back to bed but inevitably they fall asleep too late and they are tired in the morning.
We have a decent bedtime routine. We typically have family time after dinner, read books and a Bible story, and then have a bedtime. We have been taking away reading together when they act crazy and disobey or are disrespectful, but this seems to not be working. How can we smooth out bedtime?
