Question
My 16 yr old son has had encopresis for about 12 years. He developed severe constipation. Doctor tells us to use Miralax change diet drink more water eat more fiber, etc. My son refuses to consistently make the changes needed and I’m constantly reminding him to use the bathroom. He’s a sweet gentle highly intelligent young man so this is not a developmental issue. To date, he hasn’t had a bowel movement for a week. Yes, I worry about his health. His dad and I are constantly asking if he has gone to the bathroom. This is getting ridiculous. My concerns are his current health and future health but also the potential embarrassment of this condition. Please help me help himself.
