Grandparent worries.

Question

What can you do when your just turned 17 yr old son decides he doesn't want to do what it takes to succeed in school and wants to quit? What do you do when this boy starts breaking curfews and sleeping at friends houses and not coming home at night? I have seen the parents show bad examples in anger management, in holding their authority and staying firm with consequenses given. The boy has had difficulties in school and at home due also to high functioning aspergers diagnosis and bullying issues. His respect for authority and his own anger management is very limited. Counseling was useless. He is very bright and wants to be an engineer. Virtual learning was not good for him. My authority is limited as a grandparent but I am so very worried that he is headed for major life problems. Any advice you can give would be appreciated. Thank you.
