Mom Struggles to Not Repeat Her Own Childhood Trauma

Question

Dr Rosemond provides incredible advice for parents on ignoring psychobabble parenting advice, but I am just wondering what advice Dr Rosemond would give to parents who were neglected and emotionally abused as children and then given psychobabble advice? I ask because I think my own upbringing does affect my parenting in some ways and I want to make sure I do a better job at raising my son than I was raised. I have attended programs various programs which all talk about self esteem, trauma etc and feel like I have actually fallen into an even worst state and fell into the victim trap. Dr Rosemond, please can you advise me on what you would recommend so I can get my common sense back and therefore being able to set an example to my children? Thank you.
