Question
I am a single parent with a 7 year old and 1 year old. I plan to relocate back to our home town once I buy a house, hopefully by Christmas unless covid and other unexpected issues arise that delay the process.
My plan is to home educate my 7 year old as attending school no longer seems negotiable. God has put this on my heart. But I just don’t know how to get my child to do his work without complaining. I know John Rosemond recommends a child should not be home educated until they are disciplined to be well behaved but with covid and the situation of moving, I’m not sure if my son will go back to his current school before we move and I don’t want to register him into a school temporary once we have moved so I have to figure this out in the midst of everything else going on in the world and currently being sick.
I want a fresh start when we move and I want to be prepared as much as I can while being limited by temporary sickness.
Please could you give me some advice? I am thinking of going back to the strike chart for behaviour in general as I’ve not been very consistent, but I am also having bed time issues and my son getting into my bed in the middle of the night which is breaking my sleep and not helping.
Do I need to be “brutal” with the strike chart for all of these areas as it’s difficult to work on all things at once but I also need my sanity and to get back my control as a parent?

(Just for extra reference, we are in the UK so covid is slightly different here and all children must attend school if they and their families are healthy and able, but the school are not providing work or any support. I have brought curriculum myself so I pretty much have everything to go, I am just struggling with being unwell and having an unruly child right now.
Please help and point me in some directions because I have to make this work no matter how difficult and unknown it is to me. I need to figure this out as my son can’t go back to public school if I can help it but I don’t know what I am doing.
