Question
My 15 month old loves to throw things. I am looking for guidance on whether this is behavior that needs to be contained or controlled. He still crawls, and throwing and chasing objects is one of his favorite pastimes. I don’t mind if he throws stuffed animals, balls or LEGO’s, but I don’t want him throwing heavy items or throwing objects directly at people (or the cat). I have removed all his heavy toys to be played with only under close supervision. If he throws food, I take him out of his high chair and set the timer for five minutes. Usually he only throws food when he is no longer hungry though, so that doesn’t seem to affect him too much. How should I teach him the difference between heavy and light objects, tossing and throwing and not to throw at people?
