Question
I realize now why Dr. Rosemond advocates starting at a much earlier age to potty train. I tried half-heartedly in the early stages but didn't want to deal with the mess. Now I'm paying and I'm not sure how to deal with it. My daughter was going tee tee only when told but she never seems to realize the full bladder feeling and will just go on the floor if naked or in undies and continue to play. She will also go poop on the floor or undies and she does not mind the mess. I have been trying FULL fleged for 2 months to get her potty trained. Eventually we started taking away priveledges and toys and said she can't have them back until she starts going on the potty. The closest we came was she went poop twice on the potty and would go tee tee when taken....then she rebelled. She doesn't want to have anything to do with any of it. So, again we took things and priveledges away. She still does not care. We put her back in diapers and said she can't have undies if she is going to act like a baby. When we talk about the potty she won't respond, talk or look at you. Should I totally back off for a period of time and at this point wait until it's her decision??? Of course I dread the idea that she might be 5 before she is trained at this rate. Thank you for your advice.
