Don't Give In to Picky Eater

Question

When food is offered to a 2 year old at their meal time, but they purse their lips and try to to wiggle away, what is the appropriate response? Should you keep insisting that they eat and persist in trying to get them to eat a certain number of bites, or just let them go?

What if it continues to happen throughout the day? For example, if the child is clearly hungry but still refusing to eat what is being offered for the third time.

I want my toddler to get into the habit of eating what our family eats, but she has developed a habit of trying to only accept sweets.

Thank you for your help.
