Question
I see that other parents are writing in about their school woes, too. When I meet with my kid's teachers and explain that we don't drill times tables, or make the kids read to us, or get involved in projects, they get offended and tell us that we're not involved and that parental involvement is the key to student success. If we aren't involved, then our kids won't be successful in school. My kids have mentioned that the teachers make sarcastic remarks to them about their parents not caring about their education. We explain that we DO care about their education, or we wouldn't send them to school! Our kids are in 3rd and 4th grades...I have a feeling that we have some long years ahead of us. How did we ever get to this sad state of affairs??
