3 y/o and 1 y/o siblings learning to play together

Question

My son is 3 years old and my daughter is 1 year old. My son is really good about playing by himself and lining up his cars when he plays; however, my daughter really likes to bug him. She obviously goes up to him and tries to take whatever he is playing with or even just grabs him and tries to pull him down to wrestle. We try to separate them when playing or have him play in a different room, but that only works for so long. So I have two questions, is there a proper response in teaching my daughter how to play better or is she too young to pick up on anything? We distract her and redirect, but man is she persistent and it gets old fast. Second, how can we keep my son calm or be proactive about this? He is so patient with her, but he can only take so much before he eventually pushes her away. He is good about asking us for help when she is clawing at him, but I'd like to teach him how to handle the situation if possible so we don't have to have eyes on them playing all the time. Any guidance would be great!
Thanks!
