Question
My 6 1/2 year old granddaughter killed a frog yesterday using a kitchen knife to mutilate it. This was in front of her 4 yr old brother. She has never shown that kind of violence and we are all very shocked. Her daddy lectured and spanked and took her for a long walk to talk it over.
Their family has been through quite a bit of emotional upheaval with mom and dad having marital problems. My question is should my granddaughter receive counseling for something like this, to see if there's anything underlying? Other than this incident she is a loving, compassionate child and a delight. Is there anything I can do in talking to her about it? What to say, what not to say..
